Lubbock Comic Book Expo 5

When: April 14-15, 2012.
Saturday 10am-6pm
Sunday 12 - 4pm
Where: during the annual Lubbock Arts Festival. It is $3 for adults to get into the arts festival and the Comic book Expo is FREE! The event will be held at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, at 1501 Mac Davis Lane, (in the upper mezzanine level!)

That didn’t take long! This is our 5th year doing this show, and we’ve never sold out so quickly. Thank you everyone that purchased tables for this show. We’ve got some great guests coming. We take it as a good sign. And it makes l’il Expo Tex happy…

We’re very excited to be hosting the next Lubbock Comic Book Expo! April 14-15, 2012
Saturday 10am-6pm
Sunday 12 – 4pm
The event is part of the 34th Annual Lubbock Arts Festival. It will be held  at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, a completely indoor venue.

Comic Book Expo will help attract large crowds at Lubbock Arts Festival

Never doubt the power of a man in a Batman costume, especially if presented at a comic book exposition.Comic books, after all, have more and more become source material valued by Hollywood, whether bringing the legendary dark knight (Batman) to the screen or introducing “Walking Dead” to television audiences. 

Comics also have been the birthplace for no small number of superheroes, which may be why the 2010 Comic Book Expo found children inspired by the opportunity to see Batman.

Local comic book artist Will Terrell, 34, and Robert Mora, 37, who has owned Star Comics since 1999, formed the South Plains Comic Book Alliance specifically to produce such events as the fourth annual Comic Book Expo.

Comic Expo – Panel’s, exhibitors and FloorMap

Our convention is this Saturday and Sunday! We hope that you will come and join us.  Here is the list of panels for the day…

Saturday
•10:30 a.m. — Rob Weiner: Sequential art, comics and long road to respect.
•11:30 a.m. — Creator panel, featuring visiting artists, moderated by Will Terrell.
•1 p.m. — Costume contest.
•2:30 p.m. — Kevin Jones: Intro to 3-D Animation.
•4 p.m. — Iron Artist Competition.
•5:30 p.m. — “Alike in Dignity,” 24-minute short film by Danial Ballard, followed by discussion and Q&A.

Sunday
•1 p.m. — Rob Weiner: Superheroes on film and television.
•2 p.m. — Ben Dunn Q&A.
•3:30 p.m. — Lubbock Comics Panel: Building the Local Scene.
